On Friday we managed to travel by car (our host), ferry, bus, train, another train line, and car (our new host), from the island of La Maddalena to Alghero on the west coast of the mainland (as La Maddalenians call it) without a hitch. Now mind you, it took us 8 hours to travel those 90 miles...
Instead of a 3 day festa in honor of freedom fighter Giuseppe Garibaldi, Alghero is hosting some big international car rally this weekend. Walking along the waterfront, John couldn’t resist taking a selfie with some French driver of some superstar status.
We are settled into our sweet apartment on the outskirts of the historic center. John is cooking dinner while I sip the local Vermentino and try (for the 3rd time) to get this post done. The back terrace gets the morning sun (yes I was up early today)
and the front has a beautiful view of the harbor to the west.
We’re the top floor with the striped awnings and flowers on the terrace.
Tomorrow is supposed to hit 90, so we’re taking the morning beach bus out of town. Expect many more blues in my next posting. We hope you are all (whoever is actually reading this) doing well and enjoying summer, wherever you may be. We do enjoy reading your comments :-)
Hmmm, perhaps the sunset photo will want to be posted tomorrow. In the meantime, for all you pizza lovers:
